The library supports the educational program providing access to a range of instructional and recreational materials.
Library Program
All classes K-6 access our Library program once a week. Library lessons are planned to compliment what is being taught in the classroom. Lessons focus on developing a love for reading, information skills and the skills needed for students to become lifelong learners.
The library program incorporates information and literacy skills aligned to the curriculum. Students are taught skills to define tasks, locate resources, select appropriate resources, organise information, present their learning and evaluate it.
To develop students’ love for reading they are able to borrow a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction books. We also have a subscription for eBooks and audiobooks that students can loan. Our books are regularly updated with contemporary and award-winning books, which allows our students access to current engaging literature for young people.

The library is open every day during the second half of lunch from 11:50am to 12:10pm. Students have access to the library to read, relax, borrow and research. Library monitors help in the library once a week giving up some time during lunchtime to keep the library functional and a welcoming place. Library monitors are also given special tasks throughout the year for example, making a film to introduce Book Week.

The library runs a number of events throughout the year including a book parade, a book fair, Simultaneous Storytime and Premier’s Reading Challenge.

Take home reading
Your child will regularly bring home a 'home reader' for oral reading practice. We expect that parents will be able to spare the time to read this with their child. When a book is finished please sign and date the reading log and return the reader to school. Always keep the reading log and home reader together in the home reading/library bag available from Pickles School Wear.
Students attend library weekly. They borrow books and need a library bag for this purpose, with the name and class written on it. This can be purchased from Pickles School Wear. Students can also attend the library during lunch time to read, play quiet games or borrow books.
